Concerns about America’s physical and mental health have not escaped Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Delta’s work in prevention and “wellness” translates to health education programs, health fairs and provision of health care services. Delta also supports medical research that examines illnesses that victimize specific segments of the country’s population.

The Bowling Green Alumnae Chapter Physical and Mental Health Committee strives to encourage wellness in our sorority and the community. The committee offers a variety of opportunities and events that promote healthy living for our members and people in our service area.

HEALTHY TIPS

Know your BMI:
Your Body Mass Index is a measure of body fat based on height and weight.

Stay on top of your annual wellness checks

This habit can increase the chances of early detection of disease or chronic conditions, which in turn increases your chances of doing something about any health problems you develop.

Don’t skimp on sleep.

Besides fighting the signs of aging, regular sleep promotes mental alertness and helps keep your stress levels in check.

EXERCISE TIPS

Start Small

The more you can incorporate exercise into your daily routine, the more natural (and easy) it will become. Instead of trying to convince your brain to work out for an hour, tell yourself you're going to exercise for just five minutes.

Make Exercise A Part Of Your Daily Routine

Exercising daily doesn’t mean you have to hit the gym each and every day. A regular workout doesn’t have to be ordinary. Create a varied schedule of fitness activities to keep things fresh and fun.

Track Your Progress

Use a fitness tracker, or your smartphone, to track your steps each day. This will turn working out into a challenge, or a game. Many people find they become really motivated to crush their daily “steps” goal
